The trainer, if not some youngster, will most likely be a butch lady that could probably beat your man in arm wrestling. Back to their training philosophy: They will ask you NOT to feed your dog that day. That's right; you'll spend lots of money on different treats. As Sarah Palin would say, I have two words for ya . Explosive Diarrhea! Wink)
If you can't get your dog's attention when around other dogs, then they'll suggest that you stop feeding your dog two days before. If that doesn't work, try hot dogs, if your dog doesn't care for that, try steak, sushi, caviar...you get the idea.
Folks, you can bribe your dog yourself. You don't need to follow TJ or anybody else's advice to give your dog treats just for being alive and call it "dog training."
REALITY CHECK: Would you still work for your company if they stopped paying you? Then how can you expect the same from your dog? And when you think about it, your dog should sit, stay or lie down because you said so and not because he's going to get a treat. Its the same mentality and principle we apply to raising kids.
How Much Should You Pay for Dog Training?
(PetSmart Claims They'll Do it For 110 Bucks!)It's common knowledge that private sessions with a top expert of ANY field will cost you more. After all, you DO get what you pay for. But think about this for a minute: What does is it really mean when we choose to pay more for something, someone, or a service? As Dr. Phil would say, "This can't be your first rodeo." So I'll assume you know what I'm talking about here.

Guarantee...And maybe even: luxury, reliability, durable, efficiency, warranty, the rarest, the cleanest, the healthiest, the tastiest, the newest, the fastest, the strongest, the smartest, much comfortable, much safer, much bigger, more, the most-admired or that WOW Factor? How about from top medical treatment to top VIP treatment?
Let's face it; real life isn't like e bay, secondhand store, or a garage sale where you can always bargain or find killer deals. Sadly, not everything is on sale everywhere and every time. So you probably guessed what's coming next by now: The same rule applies when it comes to Getting Your Dog Trained by a Real PRO!
Bottom line, when people pay top money, they automatically expect to GET top dog training. Going out of your way to get the early-bird special in some park or your local pet store will NOT get you top dog training.
Now, I know in some chatroom or on Facebook some of these pet store trainers' hackles are up and they are calling me a liar. But hey, don't prove it to me. Prove it to yourself that ANY pet store training will do. Don't forget. You want efficient and long-term results! Again, don't take our word for it. Research everyone of these facts for yourself.
Using Treats + Extreme Spoiling = A Half-Trained Stubborn Dog
!!! Stupid Mistakes that "Real Pros" NEVER EVER Make !!!
Mistake #1: Hitting, yelling, hanging or slamming your dog on its back to make him listen or submit.
(Hint: You want your dog to respect you and NEVER fear you.)Mistake #2: Relying heavily on the use of treats instead of your praise and technique. For example, give the poor dog his food, for God's sake. Nobody's asking you to do bunch of tricks or jump through hoops before feeding you. Plus, he's really putting on a show for his food and NOT for you.
Hint: You'll be far more effective if you give your dog treats at the very END of your training sessions and not before each command. Treat or not treat, your dog should Sit, Stay or Lie Down for you and because you said so and not because he sees/smells chicken in your hand.
Mistake #3: Just plain refusing to say "NO" to your dog and instead, correcting it with funny terms and noises like: Uh, Uh-Uh, or worse of all, barking or growling at your dog to make your point. Hmm... now, who's the animal here?
Mistake #4: Turning your back to your dog when he is jumping up on you or when he is in the middle of body-slamming your visitors or the poor kids. Folks, by doing so, all you are teaching the dog is to keep humping your back, keep jumping on your guests, keep knocking down the poor kids, and to get your back all dirty and scratched up. (So in a way, you are encouraging your dog to NOT sniff your crotch, but rather shove that wet and cold nose up your tush.)

This can't be the reason I decided to get a dog? Isn't owning a pet supposed to be a fun, healthy, and loving relationship, one that I want to remember positively for the rest of my life? So ultimately, it is your choice to end your headaches, embarrassments, arguments and the physical and mental pain you and your family go through by putting up with an unruly dog! The more you put this off, the worse your dog's going to get. I do this for a living. Let me be very clear here: Your dog will NOT lose its bad habits or act appropriately simply because it gets older. Now, to some of you, what you've read thus far makes perfect sense. Which is why you'll take the first step to change your dog's behavior for the better. Others will read this and go on to business as usual. Think about this for a moment. Do we humans get better with age? With some of us, yes, but getting older doesn't always mean becoming wiser or nicer. It's no different when it comes to our dogs. Your dog, as smart and as cute as he or she is, is still depending on YOUR best decision here. Please make the right one.
